17Selection of Implementation Project
- Base on the WRAPS goals
- Focus on one issue or pollutant
- Develop measurable outcomes
- Plan in advance for funding stream
- Consider innovative approaches
- Involve partners
- Use existing personnel where possible
18Implementation Steps
- Include public education and awareness
- Education of partners
- Include non-agency personal
- Producer involvement comes slow
19Steps for Success
- YOU need to get involved with initial WRAPS
development - this will provide you the opportunity to make
sure the implement necessary is clearly states as
a GOAL in the WRAPS so that once you are to the
implementation phase, you can quickly begin
working toward WRAPS grants and producers to
install improvements. -
- Maintain communication with original WRAPS
Committee - let them know what you are asking of them and
what you are willing to provide - you want their OK and ENCOURAGEMENT to carryout
YOUR project.
20Addition steps to success
- Electronic process allows for basin wide
involvement with minimal expense - Detailed application provides opportunity for a
more complete project picture to be created
w/o review committee traveling
to every site. - Use grant funds as supplemental to EQIP/SCC, etc.
will allow for life of project assurance
21Stumbling Blocks
- Large territory or watershed
- Monitoring
- measuring starting point and measuring progress
22Project EssentialsWe feel we have overcome
- Developing a ranking criteria and review
committee to assist with projects applications - Securing a devoted and organized manager for the
grant - Involvement of partners
- Education of the masses
- Maintaining energy and focus
23more Stumbling Blocks
- Remember this is a water quality project not
welfare! - Find someone dedicated and knowledgeable enough
to keep up with all of the reports for KDHE! - Organization is a must!
- For reporting
- Processing forms/reports/payments
- Keeping everyone informed
