So Whats a Data Identifier?

• Technically, a Prefix or a Qualifier that adds
  intelligence to data contained in a Data Carrier
  (such as a Bar Code)
• Practically, something that tells you what kind
  of data is about to follow! Without them,
  scanning applications cannot put data in the
  proper slot. Whats the Part Number? Wheres
  the Quantity?

In Summary

• Data Identifiers (or AIs, or TEIs)

  kind of information follows.
