Dan Marone
2
INTRODUCTION
For our project we researched cars in the 1930s
and compared them to present day cars.
3
CARS
The first gas powered car was invented in 1885,
by Gottlieb Daimler.
4
CAR PRICES
Car prices are a lot more then they used to be in
the 30s. this car in the 30s cost 317 euros.
This fancy chevy costs about 50,000 euros today.
5
IMPORTANT CAR COMPANIES
In the 30s some of the most inportant car
companies were Chrysler and Ford.
Henry Ford was the first person to mass produce
cars for sale.
6
HOW MANY PEOPLE HAD CARS IN THE 30S
Only approximately 5 of Americans had cars in
the 30s.
7
HOW FAST THEY GO
The average speed in the 30s is around 90km/h.
The average speed in the 21st century is about
200 km/h.
8
SIZE OF CARS
In the 30s the average lenght was 3-4m.
In the 21st century the average length is 3-5m.
So there was not much change in the size of cars
from the 30s to today.
9
HORSE POWER
The average of HP in the 30s was 30hp.
The average of HP in present is in between
80-100hp.
Since the 1930 HP has increased radically.
10
SHAPE OF CARS
In the 30s cars were not very arrow dynamic,
which made them slower. They were usually just
straight and box-like.
Cars today are very arrow dynamic, they have a
lot of curves and almost no straight lines so
they can go faster.
11
THE FASTEST
The fastest streetcar today can go up to 400km/h
and has 1001hp.
The fastest streetcar in the 30s could only go
167km/h and had only 56hp.
12
FUEL CONSUMPTION
Cars in the 1930s consumed a lot of gas.
Cars averagely got 25 miles per gallon.
Fuel consumption for US automobiles averages 599
gallons of gasoline per year.
13
USES
Cars are fun to play with.(going fast, crashing
them, and getting air off jumps.)
amazing car crash
If you want cars can also transport you from
place to place.
