Multiple Intelligence

• Identified by Dr. Howard Gardner
• There are several (at least 8) separate mental
  abilities
• An individual could have strengths or weaknesses
  in one or several areas
• Teaching should appeal to different forms of
  intelligences
• Learning using a preferred intelligence should be
  encouraged
• Assessments should measure all forms of
  intelligence, not just linguistic and
  logical-mathematical

Logical-Mathematical

• Core Components
• Sensitivity to and capacity to discern, logical
  or numerical patters ability to handle long
  chains of reasoning
• Examples
• Solving problems
• Creating time sequence charts
• Using symbols
• Learning patterns

Linguistic/Verbal

• Core Components
• These "word smart" people learn best through
  language including speaking, writing, reading,
  and listening.  They are able to verbally or in
  writing explain, convince, and express
  themselves.  They enjoy writing and creating with
  words.
• Examples
• Lead a Class Discussion
• Writing letters, poems, stories, descriptions
• Giving an oral presentation

Musical/Rhythmic

• Core Components
• These "music smart" people learn best through
  sounds including listening and making sounds such
  as songs, rhythms, patterns, and other types of
  auditory expression.  They are able to use
  inductive and deductive reasoning and identify
  relationships in data.
• Example
• Finding song titles that help explain content
•  Creating a musical game or collage
• Sing or Rap a song that explains your topic
• Write song lyrics for your content area

Spatial/Visual

• Core Components
• Capacities to perceive the visual-spatial world
  accurately and to perform transformations on
  ones initial perceptions
• Examples
• Making diagrams and flowcharts
• Estimating by sight
• Playing Pictionary
• Drawing patterns or picture

Bodily-Kinesthetic

• Core Component
• These "body smart" people learn best through
  physical activity such as dance, hands-on tasks,
  constructing models, and any kind of movement. 
  They are able to manipulate and control objects,
  as well as express their ideas through movement.
• Examples
• Build or Construct a Model
• Develop a Memory System based on Movements
• Devise a scavenger hunt on your topic of study
• Demonstrating sports games

Naturalist

• Core Components
• These "nature" people learn best through the
  interactions with the environment including
  outdoor activities, field trips, and involvement
  with plants and animals.
• Examples
• Create a display/visual with objects from Nature
• Find problems in nature related to you subject
• Find examples of things in Nature related to your
  topic
• Joining an environmental/wildlife protection
  group

Intrapersonal

• Core Components
• These "self smart" people learn best through
  meta-cognitive practices such as getting in touch
  with their feelings and self motivation.  They
  are able to concentrate and be mindful. 
• Examples
• Write a Journal about ...
• Setting short/long-term goals
•  Learning why and how the content under study is
  important in real life
• Having silent reflection time

Interpersonal

• Core Components
• These "social smart" people learn best through
  interaction with other people through
  discussions, cooperative work, or social
  activities. 
• Examples
• Creating  group rules
•  Acting in a play or simulation
•  Conducting an interview
•  Creating "phone buddies" for homework
