Split-Column Notes

• Notes
• On this side of your paper, write down notes on
  the main points, important terms, people, places,
  etc.
• Avoid copying whole sentences
• Use abbreviations where you can

• On this side, write down questions you have about
  the reading, words you dont know, things you
  dont understand
• Leave space to write down answers later
• This is also space for things teacher or other
  students say in class that are important

Chapter Overview

• Scan chapter, paying attention to subheadings,
  pictures and captions, bold print words, etc.
• Add to your observations and questions as you
  scan the chapter
• If you find any answers to questions you have
  already written, record the answers in the right
  hand column of your notes

  and Study Guide on page 92. Record any answers
  to questions you have written in the right hand
  column of your notes (as close to beside the
  original question as you can.)
