Project - with Grade 5
2This year, 5th grade students, Mrs. Croley and
Mrs. Mohler are fortunate to have the opportunity
to participate in the "Amazing Grace Project".
This project is sponsored by the Ohio Arts
Council, integrates the arts and literacy and
provides funds that allow local artists to work
with school children.

7At Northwood we worked with Sr. Paulette
Kirschensteiner, a local noted fiber artist. We
constructed a large, outdoor, instillation piece
called "Adjective Alley". Students worked in
groups to re-create their interpretations of
various paintings by weaving and pushing a
variety of materials through hardware cloth.

13The "Alley" consists of 16, three by three foot
panels. The students have used thesauruses to
find 10 adjectives to describe the textures, mood
and overall impression they have of their piece.
One group from each class with the most unique
adjective will attend a pizza party in the
library.

all materials used must be of the
"junk-drawer-variety" including old tee shirts,
plastic bags, yarn, egg cartons, etc.
