February 2007 - unequivocal warming of the climate system
- very likely that this is being caused by human
activity - CO2 concentrations will be above 550 ppm by 2050
- Earths temperature will rise by 2 5 degrees by
2100

21Emissions Trading
- Australia's motoring clubs support emissions
trading on these terms -
- All sectors of the economy
- Tailored to Australia but compatible with
international systems - Reform fuel tax before emissions trading
22Industry must step up
- adopt a non-mandatory fuel economy target of 140g
CO2/km for all passenger cars. - ACIS funding should be tied to environmental
outcomes. - Continued GCIF funding conditional on reducing
emissions.
23What we want from Government
- Set the targets and provide incentives
- Set an example with its own vehicle fleet.
- Dont restrict Green Car Challenge to vehicles
manufactured in Australia. - Set a revised target for Commonwealth car fleet
based on the Green Vehicles Guide - Do not dictate the type of low-emission vehicles
eligible the Green Car Innovation Fund (GCIF).
