- Cooper Crouse-Hinds is releasing a new Ultra High
Pressure Seal to provide protection up to 1500
PSI. - Our current offering has only two options 50PSI
and 500PSI. - The new product is easy to install and will save
labor time - It will also help you meet the higher pressure
code requirements for secondary process seals.
3What is a Process Seal?

hazardous area, which is acceptable

into the ordinary location.

8NEC Code Requirements
(3) Canned Pumps, Process, or Service
Connections, and So Forth. For canned pumps,
process, or service connections for
flow, pressure, or analysis measurement, and so
forth, that depend on a single compression seal,
diaphragm, or tube to prevent flammable or
combustible fluids from entering the electrical
conduit system, an additional approved seal,
barrier, or other means shall be provided to
prevent the flammable or combustible fluid
from entering the conduit system beyond the
additional devices or means if the primary seal
fails. The additional approved seal or barrier
and the interconnecting enclosure shall meet the
temperature and pressure conditions to which they
will be subjected upon failure of the primary
seal, unless other approved means are provided to
accomplish the purpose in the preceding
paragraph. Drains, vents, or other devices shall
be provided so that primary seal leakage is

additional process sealing when used within the

9National Fire Code Requirements
7.6.3.2 A primary seal shall be provided between
the flammable fluid system and the electrical
conduit wiring system. If the failure of the
primary seal allows the passage of flammable
fluids to another portion of the conduit or
wiring system, an additional approved seal,
barrier, or other means shall be provided to
prevent the passage of the flammable fluid beyond
the additional device or means if the primary
seal fails. 7.6.3.4 Where secondary seals are
used, the space between the primary and secondary
seals shall be continuously vented to the
atmosphere. Similar provisions shall be made on
double-integrity primary sealant systems of the
type used for submerged motor pumps.

- The current lead time is 4 weeks
- Competition
- The main competition will be from Conax Buffalo
who currently doe not have a product offering in
the 1500 PSI range. They mostly offer lower PSI
range products (500 PSI and below).
14Conclusion
- The Ultra High Pressure Seal is a great addition
to the Cooper Crouse-Hinds product offering. The
addition of higher level of PSI rounds out the
Cooper Crouse-Hinds pressure seal portfolio. The
new product will allow Cooper Crouse-Hinds to
offer a solution for our customers to be
compliant with the current code requirements for
process seals.
