Purpose of Title II-A
  • To help school districts ensure that all students
    have effective teachers who have the subject
    matter knowledge and the teaching skills to help
    all of their students achieve at high academic
    standards, regardless of individual learning
    styles or needs.
  • Focus of Title II-A Activities
  • Recruitment, training/preparation, retention
  • Professional development

Needs Assessment and Planning
  • Annual needs assessment resulting in a Plan to
    meet Title II-A goals is required
  • Plan should coordinate with other federal, state
    and local programs
  • Needs assessment and plan will guide the systems
    actions and expenditure of funds

    goals/needs

than a total of three complete school years.

    subject(s) taught
  • Assigned to teach in field(s) listed on the

Highly Qualified Veteran Teacher
Veteran teacher is one who has been teaching a
total of three or more complete school years.
  • GA teaching certificate
  • Teacher certification test or HOUSSE (or
    major/concentration for Middle Grades and Special

  • Assigned to teach in field(s) listed on the
    certificate

    certificates
