How does the Burg Measure Up?
  • The Burg has been the only school to have 100
    graduation last year. In fact, we have done this
    the past two years!
  • The 2006 2007 Scores were the highest all time
    at the Burg.

  • Class average 7.2/13
  • 6/13 Would pass the Math OGT
  • According to last weeks pre-test, 75 would
    PASS the math OGT and another 9 would be near
    proficient.

  • 7/16 Would pass the Math OGT
  • According to last weeks post test, 76.9 would
    PASS the math OGT and another 13 would be new
    proficient.

Earth and Space Science Data
  • If this practice counted at the science OGT, 66
    would have passed.
  • 96 of the 44 students that passed the Mock OGT,
    completed BOTH extended response questions.
  • Of the 22 students that did not pass the mock
    OGT, 54 DID NOT ATTEMPT 1 or both of the
    extended response questions, losing between 4-8
    points.
  • To pass this practice, you would have needed only
    7 points.
  • The ASSUMPTION that you can still pass the OGT by
    just doing the MC questions is NOT TRUE!

Test Taking Strategies for the OGT
  • Feeling confident and comfortable in using
    test-taking strategies can make a huge
    difference. It is not cheating or taking the
    easy way out. It is sharpening the way you think
    so you can show what you know!

  • Know your vocabulary (what are the words telling
    us)
  • Answer EVERY question
  • Use codes to make better guesses
  • Power Guess by eliminating
  • Talk to yourself
  • Include what you think and how you think
  • Use drawing to support your answers
  • Check over your work

  • Formulate a plan
  • Dont get stuck, move on and come back
  • Answer EVERY question
  • Be an active reader-think as you read
  • Recheck your answer immediately and then when the
    test is complete
  • Complete Science Pre-Test

  • AC to clear the calculator between problems
  • C/CE to clear the last thing you typed but not
    the entire problem
