Title: Saltdean Primary PTA
1Saltdean Primary PTA
2- An interested group of parents who raise money
for this school - We have children in most classes in the school.
- Most of us work.
- But we spend a small amount of time
each year fundraising for
the benefit of the
school and the children.
3What we have bought in the past..
We bought all the playground shelters for both
the playgrounds and the toy train.
These items cost many thousands of pounds and
took several years to fundraise for.
4Our School Library
We have spent over 3000 on book stock, bought
all the furniture and shelf dividers and story
sacks and posters for the library in total over
5000 since 2003.
5Last year we spent.
- 250 for each topic week 1000.00
- 1000 for the school fund 1000.00
- 100 for each class 1500.00
- Library Books 500.00
- Subject Areas 2000.00
- Maths Dept 50.00
- Book Week 500.00
- Music Dept 150.00
- Early Years Patio 1000.00
- Blue IT Cameras 870.00
- Special Needs 100.00
- Leavers Dictionaries 270.00
6- A Grand Total of 8085.70 on the school.
7So how do we raise this money?
- Last year we raised 7526.41
- We do this with a mixture of smaller events
8Denim Days
Each year we have a day where the children can
come in denim for 1.
Last year this bought the ball game on the field
for children to use at playtime and this year we
bought 15 blue cameras. These link to the
computers in the IT suite so the children can
make their own movies in pairs.
9Barn DanceWe had a family barn dance.
Which was really great fun and really well
attended.
10DiscoEvery year we have two children's discos
and around half the children from the school
attend. The children love it and it raises a
decent amount of money while still being
reasonably cheap for parents. We have one planned
for October 13th.
11Quiz Night
We had a very successful quiz night with a fish
and chip supper that was enjoyed by lots of
us We have one planned for November 10th.
12Christmas Carol Concert
Each December we had a Carol concert where the
two local Saltdean vicars Father George from St
Nicholas and Reverend Allen from St Martins help
us along with some carols and some traditional
fun Christmas songs.
13Sponsored Book Read
We also organised a sponsored book read in
September last year that raised over 500 for new
books for the school.
14And our two annual big events
- Our two fayres raise the most money each
raising around 2000. - They require a lot of effort from the PTA and we
rely very heavily on help from teachers and
parents to keep them running each year.
15Summer Fayre
We hold our summer fayre on the first Saturday in
July and we choose a different theme each year.
16Christmas Fayre
We are already organising our Xmas fayre in
November.
It is always a lot of fun
17Other events include table top sales and a panto
outing for the new year. All of these keep
money coming in.
18So why do we need You?
- Because every year some of our committee members
leave when their children go to secondary school. - Last year one member moved away.
- At the moment we have around 12 members on our
committee which is not enough to keep running the
events that we do.
19- You are all automatic members of the Parent
Teacher Association when you join the school. - Come and join us on the committee and help us
organise events and
come up with new
ideas. - Or register with us on
our list of supporters
we can call on
to help
us for an hour or two
at our events.
20We would be grateful for
- Any parent with skills to share we would like
to hear from you if can play the piano or have
other talents to offer you keep quiet about - If you may be able to donate a raffle prize
- If you have a bar licence
- If you would like to sponsor a piece of equipment
we can help with
this and provide
advertising in our leaflets - If you could give 2 hours
twice a year of
your time.
21At our meeting last Wednesday
- We were able to commit
- 2000 curriculum bids
- 500 for Book Week
- 1700 for new playground benches and tables
- We also spent time talking about our quiz night
also our Denim Day and the Xmas fayre, disco and
Carol concert.
22What can we offer You?
- There is great satisfaction when you know that
you have helped raise money for the school - We are a good group who support
each other - It is a good way to get involved in
the school - It doesnt really require too much
commitment - If we didnt know each other when we
joined the PTA we have all got to
know each other as
friends since.
23- Come and Join
- Us
- We really
- need
- YOU!
