- Connects to lead pipe
- Player must buzz lips against mouthpiece in order
to create a vibration which determines the pitch
of the instrument. - Each instrument has a different mouthpiece. Tubas
have the largest while French horns have the
smallest.

3French Horn
Rotary Valves a valve that rotates (or turns)
to redirect air into different tubing thus,
altering the pitch of the instrument. Double
Horn an F horn tubing combined with B-flat horn
tubing with four valves.
4Euphonium
Conical Bore maintains a constant tubing
diameter for a greater portion of the
instrument's total length. 4th Valve Serves as
a tuning valve. Also allows player to play in the
lower register by increasing the length of
tubing.
5B-Flat Trumpet most common trumpet in which the
pitch is one step below the concert pitch.
Piston Valves valves that allow air to pass
through the instrument by means of pistons, thus
altering the pitch of the instrument.

Slide tubing that allows the player extends or
shortens the length of the instrument in order to
change the pitch. Bass Trombone trombone that
consist of longer and wider tubing than a normal
trombone. This allows the trombone to have a
deeper, lower tone.
7Tuba
Low Brass Tuba is part of the low brass family
and is the brass instrument with the lowest pitch
and tone. Sousaphone Relative of the tuba. It
was invented for marching bands and consist of
tubing that wraps around the body so that the
player is able to march and play at the same
time.
