History

• Abraham Pierson said the community reflecting the
  new task at hand should be named New Ark or New
  Work.The name was shortened to Newark.

• Hudson has its own college called Saint Peters
  College.

• The area of Morris County was inhabited by the
  Lenape prior to the coming of the Europeans.

• The highest point in Morris county is at 1,395
  feet above sea level in the Mahlon Dickerson
  Reservation in Jefferson Township.
