Title: Profiling a community

1
Profiling a community
  • Target a population and assess the need for
    services

2
The questions you need to ask
  • You dont build the product for yourself. You
need to know what the people want and build it
for them (Walt Disney said about the first
    Disneyland theme park)
  • Several layers of inquiry- working closely with
community partners to get the answers
    (administration, client, parent, etc)

3
What are the problems/happenings of the community?
  • Are there issues occurring in the community which
will effect your program? (divorce rates,
    homelessness, adolescent pregnancy,
    racial/gender/age discrimination, etc)
  • What is the frequency?
  • What are the factors contributing to the
    problems?
  • Will your program address one or more of the
    problems?

4
How do you actually get in?
