Kerosene instead of water. When they went to burn
the books, they would spray everything inside the
house and then light it on fire.

Clarisse tells Montag that if you rub a dandelion
under your chin and it turns yellow, you arent
in love with anyone. Monatg knew that he wasnt
in love with Mildred, but he didnt want to
admit it.

IS FOR MECHANICAL HOUND
The mechanical hound could track down almost
anything. It tries to track down Montag after he
killed Captain Beatty. Montag shows that the
hound cant track everything when he throws him
off at the river. The hound kills almost all its
victims by inserting a needle from its snout into
them, injecting them with poison.

IS FOR NEVER-EVER
Montag never-ever thought that it would be his
house that he would have to burn. The day he had
to burn his house was the day he read the poem
Dover Beach to Mildred, Mrs. Phelps, and Mrs.
Bowles. After the two ladies left Mildred, they
both filed an alarm.

IS FOR OVERDOSE
Most of Montags world was based on suicide and
thrill. One night when Montag came home, he
found Mildreds bottle of sleeping pills empty,
and her face was as white as snow. Mildred
overdosed on her sleeping pills like some of the
suicidal people did in their world.

Granger talked about the Phoenix in the end of
the book. He explained how it would burn itself
and become reborn. They were hoping the city
would rise again from its ashes to be a better
place to live.

When Montag first met Clarisse, he thought she
and her family were queer, peculiar people. They
were unlike anyone he knew. Her Uncle was
arrested for being a pedestrian, and her family
actually talked to each other. They would just
sit there and talk any time they could.

In this society, people didnt care about
anything unless the attention was on them. If it
was happening to them or basically if it
revolved around them, they were concerned.

The Salamander is the firemen's symbol.
Salamanders are thought to be able to live
through fire. Thats why its the firemen's
symbol and thats what they called their truck.

On the parlor walls, Mildred has a so-called
family that she spends all of her time with.
While Montag is at work at night, she sits at
home and watches the family. Even when Montag
is home, Mildred is always watching the family.
They are more family to her than he is.

At first Montag thinks his job and life are
fulfilled, but when he meets Clarisse his life
changes. He knows his life is unfulfilled and
that his job is the most unfulfilling thing.

vandalizing amusement parks.

During the story, a war started. Montag said that
he had heard rumors about the war. The world
hated them and they were at war with the world.

Granger and the other hobos had memorized the
pages of various books. They are like xerox
machines because they read the materials in the
books and memorized or copied them into their
minds.

Montag is yearning for knowledge. He is yearning

Zealous means very passionate or overjoyed.
Montag is very zealous for books. He has always
wanted to know what was inside books. Clarisse
was zealous about life.
