- NCLB - Aligned with challenging state standards
assessments - SCASS-HEAP assessments aligned with national
standards (basis for state alignment) - NCLB - High quality, sustained, intensive
classroom focused - SCASS-HEAP semi-annual meeting sessions provide
members with examples/models of successful PD
activities, and PD resources to be used to
enhance quality of state trainings communication
system to provide on-going PD

- NCLB - Includes active learning one of the most
effective active learning activities is examining
and reviewing student work. - SCASS-HEAP SRT sessions include scoring student
work to determine anchors so that members better
understand the scoring process activities can be
modeled in state PD efforts - NCLB - Regularly evaluated for their impact
- SCASS-HEAP SRT meetings regularly evaluated
through an action research model - SCASS-HEAP SRT session(s) on action research that
can be employed by states to evaluate PD efforts
