SEEK has three (3) parts

• A Base Allotment
• Tier 1
• Tier 2

Base Allotment

• This guarantees an amount of revenue per pupil to
  be provided for regular operation and capital
  expenditures.

Base Allotment

• The of at-risk children to be served
• The of exceptional children to be served
• The cost of transportation
• The of children who are home bound or in
  hospitals for health reasons

Tier I

• Allows school districts to levy an equivalent tax
  rate which will raise revenue up to 15 above the
  adjusted SEEK base.

Tier II

• Allows additional levies to produce up to 30
  above the adjusted SEEK base plus Tier I.

Other Related Information

• After SEEK is calculated, there is a Vocational
  Education Deduction , which is 30 of the state
  funded SEEK for each equivalent ADA of students
  attending vocational schools.

• Hold Harmless refers to the guarantee of same per
  pupil state funding as received in the 1991-92
  school year.
• There is also a nickel tax that is sometimes
  used by districts.
