Message to students
  • I want you to know that I have high expectations
    of all of you and, believe that you all have a
    great potential to succeed.
  • I am expecting you to give your very best.
  • The course of study in life science will be
    approached in a way that is interesting and
    meaningful for you
  • We will plunge into this wonderful body of
    science and will learn about you as an organism ,
    about other organisms, how you and other
    organisms relate to each other and to the
    environment.
  • I want you to have a strong foundation in life
    science in this class on which you can build on
    in high school and college.

Course Description
  • This class is built around a framework of process
    and application skills that you will need to
    solve problems and make good decisions about
    everyday issues involving science.
  • Hands-on learning by doing through AMSTI will
    allow you to progress from knowledge to
    application in science.

Class Syllabus
  • We will be covering a variety of topics during
    the semester.
  • Topics covered in first semester include Science
    Skills, Living Things Classification Cells
    DNA/RNA Heredity Plants s Ecology a
  • Topics covers in second semester includes Body
    Systems Skeletal/ Muscular, Digestion,
    Circulation, Respiration/Excretion, Nervous,
    Reproduction/Endocrine

Materials Needed-
  • A seventh grade three ring binder for notes,
    bell-ringers, and worksheets
  • A composition book to record AMSTI inquiries.
  • 2 writing instruments
  • Folder
  • colored pencils
  • Please bring your binder and writing equipment to
    class daily.

Discipline Plan
  • I want this to be a great year when you can
    empower yourself and others to be on the road to
    success.
  • To help you and your classmates to be in an
    environment where learning can occur all the time
    the seventh grade team expect you make the right
    choices all the time.

Expectations
  • Be on time and be prepared.
  • Be respectful.
  • Remain seated.
  • Obey all school rules and procedures.
  • Give 100 daily.

Consequences
  • Verbal warning.
  • 10 sentences
  • If not turned in, 20 sentences and phone call to
    parent.
  • If not turned in, detention and parent phone
    call.
  • If behavior continues, the parent will be asked
    to attend a conference.

Procedures
  • Daily Directions
  • Enter quietly.
  • Go to your assigned seat.
  • Answer the bell-ringer question
  • Copy homework
  • Do not wait for the tardy bell to ring. Class
    begins when you enter the room. .
  • End of Class
  • No one is to leave when the bell rings.
  • I will dismiss the class !
  • Check to make sure that you are not leaving
    anything behind that you are not supposed to
    leave. (My room is not your locker.)
  • Walk out of the room.

  • During class
  • Follow all instructions
  • Experiments/Laboratory Experiences.
  • Anyone that does not follow the laboratory
    instructions or does something that is unsafe
    will be suspended from the experiment and receive
    a detention. If the lab is graded, you will
    receive a zero for the lab. Repeat offenders
    will be suspended from all labs and will receive
    an alternate assignment. Your safety and the
    safety of your classmates are of most importance.
  • I want you to know that horseplay is absolutely
    inappropriate and will not be tolerated

  • Participation Grade
  • Many lessons, experiments and computer work are
    completed in groups that require cooperation from
    all members. It will be my discretion in
    determining the input and participation of each
    group member. Any student who repeatedly fails
    to stay on task will lose group privileges, be
    given an alternative assignment, and/or have a
    reduction in his/her participation grade

Procedures
  • Make Up Work
  • You are responsible for asking me for make-up
    work if you have an excused absence.
  • As soon as you come in after an absence fill up
    the makeup slips and turn in . Makeup work will
    be given during the class. Sign up makeup log
    after having received your make-up work. Also,
    check my website for information about homework.
  • Tests and assignments should be made up with
    appointment.
  • Make up binder and work are posted at a
    designated place in my room.

  • Hall Pass
  • No pass will be given during class except for an
    emergency or for something that I deem necessary.
    Having to use the restroom real bad is not an
    emergency. Each student has time between classes
    during which they are expected to use the
    restroom.

  • It is important that you do your homework. You
    should learn to take this habit of doing homework
    to high school, college and be an absolute
    success!
