9The region
The wind as source of energy The wind
supplies more than 30 of the electricity
consumption in the region.
The windmill industry Two of the worlds largest
windmill producers - placed in the region more
than 40 of the world market.
10We might be heading the next windmill adventure

19Intelligent Energy Europe (EIE) Intelligent
Energy Europe is a program intended to promote
efficient use of energy and use of renewable
energies with a budget of 250 million for
2003-06
Title Regional markets of RES-fuel cell systems
for households (RES-FC MARKET) Duration 24
months Total project costs 1.205.851
Recommended support from EU 525,000
20Intelligent Energy Europe (EIE) RES-FC MARKET
Brief description Identify and describe gt20
regional markets which could become early niche
markets for fuel cell CHPs for households
(biogas/fuel cells, methanol/fuel cells and
excess wind/H2/fuel cells) , with a potential
of an aggregate market of at least 3000 units.
The project should help to accelerate the
development of niche markets and limit the unit
cost

22- Concerto II within EU 6th Framework Programme
- integrated energy policy with demonstration and
research for a given community - focus on both RES and RUE, strong involvement of
local authorities - holistic approach required
- typical project 20 partners from min. 3
countries, 5-15 million of support
23Proposal for CONCERTO II project Herning as a
European hydrogen town
- Partners Herning Kommune HIRC 6 Danish
partners - Idea Herning as leading European community with
regard to sustainable integrated energy sources
(RES) and rational use of energy (RUE) solutions - another community RUE, biomass and
dissemination - 300 households with fuel cell micro CHP included
in project - total budget of (roughly) 10-15 m
24- COORDINATION AND NETWORKING new project idea
- - exchange and disseminate knowledge resulting
from established demonstration projects within
the scope of hydrogen (clean) production and
storage, and fuel cells stationary and transport
applications - give the interested parties the image of
state-of-the-art implemented hydrogen and FC
applications as they work in practice - focus on international cooperation and exchange
of knowledge between the UE and the third
countries (in particular North America) and
disseminating socio-economic (first direct
contact of new technology with potential
end-users)
