The Idea strikes

• On 24th july 2005,Tuesday, the nation was again
  hit by a calamity which was equivalently manmade
  as natural ------ The Mumbai Floods
• Then the utter problem that the people faced was
  of TRANSPORTATION.
• So in a general discussion thence generated,the
  idea of a car which can run on land as well as
  water strikes.
• After web searches and technical studies we came
  up with this dream project amphi car.

• Our team consists of all shades of members thus
  compensating requirements of all accords.
• Our honorable faculty of the mechanical
  engineering department has been a great escort
  and help
• We chose a garage in muradnagar as our
  workspace.This place was also near to our
  welders.
• Raw material and the expenses. ????

The financial crisis

• An original car needs an investment of 1lakh plus
  ,which for us students, was out of dreams.
• So total scrap has been used (purchased from
  Meerut).The details of it have been given ahead.
• Still our master plan includes making it hybrid ,
  but the lack of finances is leading us to
  restrictions
• However this prototype is open to changes of all
  kinds with availability of resources.

Amphi what?

• Amphi comes from the specie of amphibians like
  frogs, seals etc. which can move on land as well
  as in water.
• The car being a mechanical part has its
  restrictions.
• Since the machine has to work on water so the
  every individual system involves its own
  complexities.

History of the amphi car ..

•  
• The Amphicar is a car that is able to drive on
  land, and go into the water like a boat. They
  were made in West Germany during the 1960's by
  the Amphicar Motor Company
• The latest has been in airs for the least time
  taken in construction
• Most recently games involving amphi cars,
  i.e.,continuous land-water car races are
  prevalent.

About the AMPHI CAR

• The basic idea is to create a vehicle that will
  drive on land then cruise down a slipway into
  water and continue on almost unhindered.We need
  to keep the engine dry (unless a diesel engine)
  yet maintain a drivetrain to wheels.

The components.

• Steering mechanism from maruti 800 model
  (scrap-meerut) and 1 in no.
• Engine 2 stroke petrol engine. From bajaj
  chetak of 100cc
• Braking mechanism Disc brakes on the rear axle
  ,from bajaj pulsar
• Suspension Spring suspension system ,from the
  splendor .That includes 4 shockers (2 forward and
  2 backward)

• Power shifting device dog clutch attached by a
  lever.
• Propeller 2 propellers powered by the engine
  shaft. Each has a combination of 3 blades.
• Body the body was designed keeping water
  aspects in mind.So basically the Archimedes
  principle was taken in aspects.
• Wheels 4 tyres from the splendor were taken and
  further connected to a shaft.
