1Locate Save EBSCO CINAHL articles to EndNote
- UTHSC Library recently migrated the Cumulative
Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature
(CINAHL) database from Ovid to EBSCO - This presentation describes how to search from
the Nursing Web Site to locate and save
references from EBSCO into an EndNote library - This presentation does not describe full-text
article search procedures
2Open UTHSC library site from College of Nursing
home page
Navigate to the Library link from the Nursing
Quick Links on our home page, and click to open
the Library Web Site.
3Select the EBSCO database
On the Library web site, Open the Most Popular
Resources drop down box, and Select a database
to open (our example CINAHL _at_ EBSCO.
4Open the EBSCOhost database
Click on the EBSCO host Web link to open the
database.
5Open the Advanced Search tab in EBSCOHost
In the EBSCO database, click on the Advanced
Search tab.
6Enter search terms and search
In the EBSCO Advanced Search window, Enter terms
in the fields on the left (in our case Author
name LOK, Publication Year 1996), and select a
category for each term from drop down lists in
the fields to the right of each term. Click
Search.
7Add selected references to folder
Any results for your search terms will display in
a frame beneath your search terms. Click the
Add icon to the right of the reference. This
adds the reference to your folder so you can
import to EndNote.
8Open the folder to view contents
After you click the Add icon, the icon will
changed to Added and your folder icon will
display Folder has items. Click the Folder
has items icon to see the folder contents.
9Save reference and open Save Manager window
Click the Save to Disk icon on the Folder
Contents window to go to the Save Manager screen
and begin the import process.
10Select citation format for export to EndNote and
Save reference
In the Save Manager window, select a Citation
Format from the drop down list (our ex.
APA). Then click Save.
11Choose an export format and save reference to
EndNote
Click on the Bibliographic Manager tab on the
Save Manager window, and then click the
Citations in Direct Export format button in the
lower right corner.
Then click Save.
12Select an EndNote library to import reference
A Windows box will open that allows you to browse
to locate the EndNote library where you intend to
save your reference. Select the library and click
it to fill in the File Name field (below) then
click Open in the lower right corner.
13View imported reference in EndNote
The imported reference will display in the
EndNote library window. To display the full
reference in the lower pane, click the record in
the upper pane.
Note Review entry to confirm all fields have
entries i.e., date, author, etc.
