9Admissions Criteria
- Must be invited to apply.
- Must not be currently enrolled in a school
administrator preparation program. - Able and willing to gain acceptance to the USC
Graduate School and the Educational
Administration Program (Participant must pay the
cost of the application fee). - Must have a bachelors degree from an accredited
college/university. - Prepare an application packet for submission that
meets all criteria for Graduate Admission to the
University of South Carolina and admission to the
Educational Administration Program.

- Application A USC Graduate School Application
Form and a nonrefundable application fee should
be completed online via The - Graduate School website. (http//www.
gradschool.sc.edu/). - A supplemental application form for the program
area in Educational Leadership Policies should
also be completed via this website. - The application fee can be submitted
electronically or by check or money order.
11Admissions Criteria
- Packet of Supporting Documents The following
supporting documents should be gathered by the
applicant for submission to The Graduate - School.
- Two letters of reference from persons who can
comment directly on the applicants professional
and academic capabilities and potential. Each of
these letters should be submitted in separate - sealed envelopes with the reference sources
signature on the back of the sealed envelope.
12Admissions Criteria
- Official transcripts from all other colleges or
universities attended. Each of these transcripts
must be delivered in sealed envelopes with the
stamp or seal of the institutions registrar or
must be sent directly to USC. - The transcript of the applicants baccalaureate
degree from a college or university accredited by
a regional accrediting agency should reflect an
overall GPA of 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale).
13Admissions Criteria
- Students should submit a copy of test scores with
supporting materials. Official tests scores must
be reported directly to USC by the testing
service. Preference will be given to applicants
to the M.Ed. in Educational Administration
program who score at least 825 (verbal
qualitative) on the Graduate Record Examination
(GRE) or at least 40 (or 395 new scale) on the
Miller Analogies Test (MAT).
14Admissions Criteria
- Students who score less than the identified
minimum on the MAT, GRE or TOEFL, MUST submit
scores from two administrations of the test to be
considered. Even with two testings, if a score of
at least 35 on the MAT (388 new scale) or 800 as
a combined score on the verbal and quantitative
sections of the GRE is not made, the applicant
will not be considered.

- Negotiated by Richland One with USC.
- May include the option for payroll deduction in
RSD One. - Contingent upon approximately 25 participants
formed as a cohort. - Approximately 11,000 for the degree program at
current tuition rates. - Does not include textbooks or other fees.
18Advantages of the Cohort
- Students bond as a cohort, supporting each other
in professional growth. - The course content, professors and experiences
are common to the cohort group, allowing a richer
shared experience. - Selection by the district means closer attention
to student progress by district officials and the
opportunity to have professional skills noted.
19Advantages of the Cohort
- Research is showing that cohorted groups are a
stronger more effective way to train leaders. - Students support each other through courses and
form long term professional relationships that
last beyond the coursework. - The cohort members become a supportive network
used by many as they enter roles as school
leaders.
