• Lend money to purchase items
• Lend money to start businesses
• Issue credit cards
• Provide savings accounts
• Provide checking accounts

• Taxes are collected by the government to pay for
  services.
• Where does the money go?

Federal Government Virginia

• The Federal Government has a large impact on
  Virginias economy.
• Many Virginian's are employed by the federal
  government in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan
  area.
• (Metropolitan is a city an its surrounding
  developed areas.)
• Federal military installations employ many people
  in the Hampton Roads area.
• Northern Virginia has one of the nations largest
  areas of high-technology industries.
