Overview

• CAA is a non-profit organization, which is in
  fact owned by its members currently totaling
  over 160,000
• It is part of the Canadian Automobile
  Association, which is affiliated with the AAAs
  across the United States
• I continued my Coop position as a Travel
  Councellor from my first term, at the CAA branch
  in Member Services located on St. Annes Rd.

Different Departments

• There are 3 branches located in Winnipeg, all of
  which have a Member Services, Travel Agency, and
  Home Property Insurance Department
• The administration office is located on Arena
  Rd., with the Trip-tik department, telecentre,
  and warehouse
• And of course CAA has a Emergency Road Side
  Service, which is who you call if you need a tow,
  boost, flat, etc!

Management Structure

• Within each department there is a Manager and
  Supervisor
• As a Travel Councellor I communicate more
  directly to my Supervisor
• The branch manager acts as a liaison to the
  administration offices
• The Board of Directors establish, review, and
  refine CAA policies

Responsibilities

• Sell and quote travel health insurance
• Sell and renew CAA memberships
• Take passport photos and sell International
  Drivers Licenses
• Stock/receive merchandise perform inventory
• Reserve/book car rentals and hotel stays for CAA
  members

Responsibilities Cont

• Assist members with planning trips hand out
  auto-touring material, tour books, maps,
  brochures, construct trip-tiks
• Sell Traveler Cheques, Visa Travel Money Cards,
  Foreign Currency, and tourist attraction tickets
• Perform opening and closing cash drawer duties

Professional Personal Gains

• Experience in map reading and knowledge of North
  American geography
• Learned how to market the services and benefits
  through promotional activities
• Continued employment and further development
  through ongoing training
• College of Disney Knowledge gained thorough
  knowledge of both Disney Amusement Parks

Points of Interest

• Each summer, CAA Manitoba introduces a campaign
  for its members
• This year it was called, Did you Know?
• Each member had an opportunity to fill out a
  ballot to win one of three great prizes, while
  the employee told them something new about CAA
  that they may not have known before
• It was a great way for our members to learn more
  about the benefits and services that they receive
  with their membership

Conclusion

• CAA truly is an excellent company to work for. My
  role as a Travel Councellor has given me such
  valuable experience, which I can take with me in
  my future career in tourism.
• My co-workers, supervisor, and manger have been a
  pleasure to work with and have notably given
  their support in my upcoming endeavors.
