Objectives of the Initiative

• Provide a structured avenue for Kellogg students
  to develop civic leadership one of the three
  leadership traits emphasized by Dean Jain
• Help Kellogg and Northwestern University develop
  harmonious relationships with Evanston and
  Chicago communities
• Motivate Kellogg students to make volunteering
  and community service a priority.

Your Responsibilities

• Facilitation
• Coordinate activities with organization and
  communicate these to your section.
• Use kick-off meetings, post calendar of
  opportunities, periodic emails to the section,
  set up a regular times to volunteer.
• Recruitment
• Promote section involvement motivate your
  section classmates to volunteer at your assigned
  community organization.
• Administration
• Recording participation/volunteer hours at your
  organization
• Submit results monthly

SSI Improvements

• Earlier start during fall quarter.
• Consolidated sections into fewer community
  groups.
• Expand eligible volunteer hours to include
  Kellogg Cares and regular volunteer commitments.
• Allign with organizations not requiring large
  training time commitments.

Procedure for Recording Volunteer Hours

• Please email the Excel Spreadsheet to
  aweimer2006_at_kellogg.northwestern.edu by the 10th
  of every month (for the preceding month's
  report). We will send you the form on the 1st of
  every month.
• Hours are tracked for
• awarding trophies, prizes, and recognition
• assisting Kellogg/Northwestern in efforts to
  develop stronger relations with the Evanston
  community, metrics to promote Kellogg
• Criteria

• BWAH Trophy Joint Year Victory
• Criteria People hours, Section participation
• Prizes 300 for section party in May or social
  fund
• 2ND Year Participation
• Criteria People hours, Section participation,
  2nd years only
• Prizes 100 donation towards class gift fund
• Top 3 individual participants school wide
• Criteria Number of hours
• Prizes 30 gift certificate, profiles in Merger,
  a school-wide mail thanking them
