Title: EzWeb
1EzWeb
- An open web mashup platform for the
next-generation Internet of Services - Juan J. Hierro
- Telefónica ID
2EzWeb Project motivation
- The EzWeb Project will deliver main components of
the front-end web access platform in NESSI
compliant architectures.
End-users
Problems they face
- Need to enable users to design and share their
workspace and applications is key - Speed up the development cycle
- Help to better adjust to target users needs
- Want to configure their own portal to the web
(Google already in this race) - Want to correlate content (e.g., a video, a map)
and services (e.g., buy a video, order a taxi) - Seamless single point from which to manage daily
life processes and things around
- cannot afford development of customized
applications - Need to mix COTS apps from different vendors but
cannot afford EAI costs - ASP solutions are few (they require a huge
investment) and have not delivered their promise
too monolithic, not customizable
- Need to develop a suistainable business ecosystem
where services get provided by different parties
(no single services provider)
- Apps are not delivered in time and do not easily
adapt to changes users have to solve problems on
their own - Applications are too monolithic difficulty to
incorporate innovation from third parties
(available in the Internet) - Knowledge is not properly exploited
3Main results and contribution to NEXOF
- EzWeb will contribute to the NESSI Reference
Architecture and Conceptual Model definition in
what the front-end web access layer respects - EzWeb and related projects will provide an open
source reference implementation of front-end
components in NESSI - Context-aware Mashup/wiring/tagging/navigation/cor
relation/discovery web platform (handling of
interaction between users and resources) - Resources market-place support components
(resources registration, link to back-end
services, usage accounting)

4EzWeb Main functionalities
- Interaction is adapted and relevant to context,
given the term context the widest meaning
possible (device, situation, social context, ) - Users become part of the development lifecycle
they build and personalize their own applications
by self-servicing from an universe of available
resources - Users collaborate and share resources (contents
and applications) as well as knowledge about them - Environment is proactive and assists users
through smart agents that exploit knowledge about
context and learn from users interaction - Captured knowledge is analyzed in order to
propose automation of routine processes - At the Internet, open marketplace and
suistainable business ecosystem where back-end
providers publish resources and brokers/
aggregators make these resources available to
end-users
web resources becomes a basic concept which put
a face on contents and services, making then
visible and tangible to end-users (putting a
face on SOA)
5EzWeb Main research topics
- Semantic description of context and resources
- Ontologies for describing context
- Ontologies for describing resources
- Integration of ontologies and folksonomies
- Folksonomies quality management
- EzWeb front-end Platform
- Dynamic context description management
- Context-aware mashup / wiring
- Context-aware rendering
- Context-aware navigation (exploiting correlation
between content and services) - Pull and push-style modes of interaction
- EzWeb Marketplace Support
- Resource Marketplace registration/population
- Context-aware resource discovery/navigation
- Resource usage accounting, payment and billing
targeted to support advanced economic models
6EzWeb A truly open consortium
- Truly open initiative
- Open Source approach facilitates liason with
other open source initiatives as well as
incorporation of additional partners - Spanish partners funded through national RD
program Avanz_at_ - Current liason with EU FP7 FAST, CELTIC
MyMobileWeb - Aiming to create a global open alliance on
