  centralized and shared corporate database. The
  DBA is the general manager of the
  database-administration department.

What is the difference between a DBA and a DA?

• The DA is more managerially oriented than the
  more technically oriented DBA. Compared to the
  DBA function, the DA function is DBMS
  independent, with a broader and long term focus.
