- Easily downloaded and installed from the
Internet. - OHSR website has a link to CDEMS for easy access
by new clinics. - Provide technical support to install CDEMS in the
clinics if necessary.

10Where are we now?
- The WV DPCP is working with 30 clinic sites
- Provide support for CDEMS and PECS
- Provide educational programs
- Provide on-site support

12Conversion of CV-DEMS to CDEMS
- Most clinic registries have been converted from
CV-DEMS to CDEMS. - New features in CDEMS include
- Tickler system which reminds providers of
services for which patient is overdue - When laboratory values are out of range
- More options for Reminder Letters
- More flexibility to create customized reports
- Electronic interface with LabCorp

27Why we are doing Utilization Review
28CDEMS Utilization Review
- Study of 3 clinics that have been using CDEMS for
at least 18 months. - Comparison of patient data prior to CDEMS and
after the implementation of CDEMS. - Analysis is seeking to identify the impact that
CDEMS registry has had on quality of care and
health care utilization.

- Number of patient visits
- Number of laboratory test performed in accordance
with ADA 2006 guidelines - Laboratory results
- Patient education
- ER visits
- Hospitalizations
- Reason for acute visit
30CDEMS Utilization Review
- Project will be completed during the next
quarter. - Result to be analyzed and final report available
Fall 2006.
