Introduction
  • It has been estimated that 22 million children
    and youth, ages 6 to 18, are involved in
    organized sports outside of school (Poinsett,
    1996).

Thesis Statement
  • In this PowerPoint, I will show why children
    should participate in sports to develop good
    sportsmanship, teamwork, and build self-esteem.

Good Sportsmanship
  • Is having a good attitude and actions towards the
    opponents, teammates, coaches, and referees.
  • The respect of the game, people, and rules
  • To encourage good attitudes and actions
  • Children should understand it to be a better
    person in the future.

Teamwork
  • Being able to work, listen, act with others to
    solve a problem.
  • It will reflect in their future through their
    jobs, marriage, etc.

Self-Esteem
  • Can only build through accomplishments whether
    you win or lose.
  • Striving for personal goals and when they are
    reached then their self-esteem is being built.
  • It can not be given but rather through
    encouragement
  • Children need good feedback to build their
    self-esteem.

Summary
  • Good sportsmanship is having a good attitude and
    respect for the game, opponents, referees,
    players, and fans.
  • Teamwork is able to work with others and also
    builds social skills.
  • Self-esteem is built through accomplishments and
    being able to set personal goals.

  • Consider this. What if children were not involved
    in sports? What would the world be like today?
  • Sports are needed in children for the future.
