Reflections Expectations
  • What I have gained from this leadership
experience and one goal I have for my continued
    growth as a technology leader.

This leadership experience has given me insight
to many technology opportunities that I can
effectively use in my classroom lessons. Being
exposed to these tools and being educated on how
to use them will certainly be beneficial to the
success of my instruction. One goal that I have
for my continued growth as a technology leader is
not only to utilize what I have learned in my own
classroom, but also to collaborate with my
colleagues, sharing my knowledge and together
gaining new ideas for cross curriculum teaching.

Reflections Leadership
  • Experiences with technology as a teacher and a
    leader in my school.

The experiences that I have had using technology
as a teacher have increased steadily over this
past year as I have learned new ways to
incorporate technology lessons in the many areas
of my curriculum. I am finding a variety of uses
for the concepts that I have learned. The
leadership role that I have portrayed in my
school this year has mostly been through
demonstration. Utilizing the computer labs at
school for many of my classes is one way of
demonstrating to others the knowledge that I have
gained. Many times I have been asked by fellow
faculty members about the project my students are
working on and this provides me with the
opportunity to share new ideas that they might be
able to use as well. I also complete a variety
of design projects for programs and newsletters
and am able to teach others how to use the
programs that I have used to create these
documents.

Reflections Lesson Planning
  • Making Connection lesson planning experience

Using the Making Connections lesson plan site was
an experience that required a lot of thought. It
helped me to develop a better process of
incorporating other areas of the curriculum into
my lessons.

Reflections Building Vision
  • Building Vision

What did you see in the video?  I saw classrooms
filled with technologyWhat were some examples
of how technology supported learning?  Some of
the examples were proofreading reports/projects,
building web pages, communicating with students
around the world and solving various problems
using math and science concepts. What roles did
the teacher play?  The teacher organized the
projects and guided, supported and encouraged the
students through their research. What kinds of
instructional strategies did you observe?  The
instructional strategies were teacher facilitated
and student led. What roles did the students
play?  The students worked in groups most of the
time and collaborated with each other during the
entire project, learning as they progressed. How
was the classroom different from what youre
accustomed to seeing?  There was more computer
based learning and less pencil and paper
learning. Technology was the general focus. How
did they use technology in this classroom?  The
lessons all focused on technology use.Do you
have classrooms like this?  No, but there are
classrooms with some technology use.  We are
continuing to learn.Do you think you could
create a classroom like any of the ones you saw
in the video?  Yes, with the right amount of
equipment for student use.

Reflections School Tech
  • Closing Remarks

School Tech has been a great experience. I have
learned many new ways to enhance the lessons that
I already teach. My classroom has become even
more hands on due to the increase of technology
use. The most beneficial thing to my career as a
result of School Tech is the increase of
knowledge on effective teaching strategies. With
the fast paced society that we live in, todays
students need more creative ways of learning and
developing concepts that will keep their
interests sparked and their motivation level
high.

Making Connections Lesson Plan
  • The Making Connections lesson plan that I
developed was for an Adult Responsibilities
class. The lesson involves developing a Marriage
Portfolio. The Making Connections lesson plan
site gives convenient access to the standards and
benchmarks to be used in any lesson. My Marriage
Portfolio project provides students with the
opportunity to conduct research on the internet.
The use of Publisher provides an excellent means
for students to produce quality work. Students
are able to proofread, peer edit and use creative
    ideas in developing their project.

Artifact - Inspiration
Using the Inspiration program, I developed a
bubble map for my students to use as a template
when they research various birth defects. They
will begin with the topic chosen and add the
required elements for their report which will
provide them with an outline to include with
their final product.
11
Artifact - PowerPoint
The Power Point that I developed outlined a
project that I use in my Adult Responsibilities
class. Students are required to complete a
research project on one of the many birth defects
that affect infants. The Power Point presents
all the required elements of the project.
12
Artifact Picasa
Using pictures taken at a historical landmark in
the town of Oberlin Jenkins Hardware students
will compare current household items to those
from previous centuries. They will note the
changes in function and appearance as well as
effectiveness.
13
Artifact Movie Maker
Using the pictures taken at Jenkins Hardware, I
created a movie showcasing the many household
items from previous centuries. This will be used
in my Housing class for a compare and contrast
assignment. Movie Maker will also be useful when
my students are developing the design of their
future home.

Artifact CBT Lesson Plan
  • "A Wedding To Remember"

After reading the play "Romeo and Juliet," the
students will create a wedding portfolio
detailing customs and traditions for a wedding
celebration during the Renaissance Period. A
colleague and I collaborated on this lesson
during training for School Tech in order to
combine various areas of the curriculum using
technology. I had developed the original lesson
of Marriage Portfolios several years ago and have
modified it over the years. Technology makes it
easier and more exciting to complete a research
project such as this, especially combining it
with another subject area. The students enjoy
working on this assignment and are able to see
the importance of how interdisciplinary
connections work together.

Artifact Curriculum Enhancement
  • The Evacuation Race

Groups of students will use GPS devices and
written communication skills in order to find
their way from Soileau, LA to Oberlin High
School. This activity will show students the
importance of being able to communicate well in
society and utilize technology to accomplish
certain tasks. I created this activity to
incorporate a GPS device into my Family and
Consumer Science curriculum.

Soileau Emergency Evacuation Plan Community
Center Oberlin High School-Safe Shelter The
Evacuation Race Four groups of students and one
monitor will begin the journey at the Soileau
Community Center. Each group will determine who
will be the two runners, the Palmer, the GPS
coordinator, and the reporter. Each group will
develop a route to the safety shelter located at
Oberlin High School using GPS devices and Palm
Pilots. The routes will include 10 coordinates
and landmarks which will be found using the GPS
devices. The routes and coordinates will be saved
on the Palms. As the students enter data on the
Palms it will be beamed to the runners who will
then use the information to proceed to Oberlin
High School. The first group to arrive at the
safety shelter will be the winners. The
information saved on the Palms will be used to
generate a printed map of the route which will be
distributed to the residents of Soileau. Rubric
