Research Advisory CommitteesRACs

• VTRC has 9 RACs Each one deals with a specific
  subject area
• Each RAC has 10-15 members usually composed of
  VDOT operations people, FHWA, and academic
• In addition, on some RACs an industry
  representative often participates in discussions
  and project review

• 2 Committees that deal with asphalt
• ARAC Asphalt materials and methods
• PaveRAC Pavement quality and performance
• Each committee meets twice per year to discuss
  needed research, decide on projects to undertake,
  and make recommendations to implement findings
