1MODULE 8DOCUMENT CAMERA (ELMO)
- The document camera is basically an overhead
projector with a video camera. - It displays overhead presentation materials on
both the Local and Remote site monitors. - The Elmo can display print based materials,
transparencies, graphics, slides, x-rays, and 3-D
objects.

- Elmo images have such excellent clarity and
resolution that one can see Lincoln sitting
inside the Lincoln memorial on the back of a
penny.

- The AMX Touch Panel controls operation of the IVC
Document Camera or Elmo. - Select the Document Camera icon from the Local
Source panel.

- The VTEL Penpal controls operation of the IVC
Document Camera. - Select icon 3 from the Penpal Local Source

Getting Started
- Turn the Document Camera on by pressing the power
switch on top of or along the side of the
document camera. - Note Make sure the document camera is turned off
before you leave the room.

Controls
- Controls on the Document Cameras can adjusted
either manually or with a remote control device.
The remote control device is located in a
compartment below the base of the Document
Camera. - It is recommended to operate the Document Camera
controls manually because it is quicker and the
IVC instructor has more control manually.

Lamps
- The Elmo has an Upper and a Base lamp. They are
used for different types of documents. - The Upper Lamp is typically used when displaying
paper or opaque objects (non-transparent). Light
is reflected down onto the object - The Base Lamp is used for transparent (see
through) documents. Light is reflected from the
base of the document camera through the document.

Focus Controls
- The Focus controls, cause the camera to zoom in
(telephoto mode) or out (wide angle mode). - Auto Focus automatically adjusts the focus of the
document camera.

- The document camera can be set to Auto Focus.
- If the focus is adjusted manually. Select N or F
for a wide angle focus or a telephoto focus. - It is recommended to adjust the focus by zooming
into an object first until the cameras focal
length is appropriate and then adjust the focus
controls.

Rooms-Positive/Negative Control
- Images can also be displayed either in Positive
(P) or Negative (N) modes.

Rooms-Input Controls
- The Elmo document cameras INPUT controls enable
the Elmo to be programmed as a camera switcher.
Instructors can display various cameras (i.e.
laptops, etc.) by selecting AV1 or AV2. - Generally, INTERNAL is the standard setting for
the Elmo.

Rooms-Color B/W Settings
- Images can also be displayed either in Color Mode
or Black and White Mode. - Generally, images are displayed in the Color
Mode.

Displaying External Items
- The document camera lens (top of the camera) can
be turned up to a 90 degree angle in order to
display items which cant be placed on the
document camera (i.e. easel, model, statue,
picture, poster, etc.)
