  • Cowichan Station Rural Traditional School is
    committed to using a structured, teacher directed
    approach to sequential learning to promote
    reflective thinking, responsible citizenship and
    continuous learning. Our character education and
    nature programs foster respect for self, others
    and the environment and prepare students to meet
    future moral, academic and global challenges.

  • ABOUT OUR SCHOOL
  • We have had a school in our community, Cowichan
    Station, for 130 years.
  • Construction of our Cowichan Station School
    begun in June 1913 completed in April, 1914 and
    was opened later that month for classes by Edwin
    Guns, trustees chairman. The Hon. H. Esson
    Young, Minister of Education, officially opened
    it on May 8, 1914. He was highly pleased with
    the modern facility and complimented everyone on
    their new school described as one of the finest
    rural
  • schools in British Columbia.

    students will be knowledgeable about their

Dress Code/Uniform
  • It is expected that student clothing be neat and
    clean
  • Clothing should be non distracting
  • No logos, hats indoors, tank tops, et cetera
  • Suitable footwear should be worn relative to
    weather conditions
  • Safety is a primary concern, so flat or very low
    heels are requested
  • Uniform
  • A majority of parents have indicated their
    support for a school uniform and the school is
    encouraging all families to join in.

School District 79Commitment
  • Where there is evidence of strong community
    support, Board policy provides a process for the
    establishment of Schools of Choice.
  • Cowichan Station Rural Traditional School was the
    first pilot school in this category, and the
    community and staff are well advanced in meeting
    the criteria for this policy.
