Northeastern Minnesota Section 569 Program

• Authorizes the Army Corps of Engineers to provide
  environmental assistance to non-Federal interests
  in northeastern Minnesota.
• Authorizes up to 54 million to be appropriated
• Authorizes the Corps to reimburse communities at
  the 75 Federal - 25 local cost share rate.

Corps Assistance

• Assistance may be in the form of design and
  construction assistance for water-related
  environmental infrastructure and resource
  protection and development projects in
  northeastern Minnesota.

• Wastewater treatment.
• Water supply.
• Environmental protection/restoration.
• Wetland protection/restoration.
• Abandoned mine lands restoration.

How does the Program work?

• Communities submit applications to the Corps of
  Engineers St. Paul District office on or before
  July 31.

• Corps coordinates with USDA, DEED, MPCA, MDH, IHS
  and other agencies to identify and prioritize
  potential projects.
