CASE STUDY Environment Initiative with
Qwest Here, UWB brought into the mix the best
regarded environmentalists of India and the most
outstanding think-tank NGOs to motivate volunteer
Qwest employees to plant, protect, and nurture
150 trees in their office neighborhood. The
scholarship brought in raised the knowledge and
motivation levels of the young employees.

CASE STUDY Vaccination Alert system, in
partnership with technology firm Mapunity.
Through this, at no cost, advance vaccination
alerts are automatically sent over mobile
telephones or internet to Mothers of babies and
children. While this is now being beta tested at
the elite Manipal private hospital in Bangalore,
UWB has signed an MOU to make it available for
public health at no cost through any United Way
Chapter across the world. Variants of this
application can be used for other ailments too,
such as for pre and post natal requirements of
women, Diabetes, etc.

CASE STUDY Supporting a School for the
under-privileged The CSHP School in the
down-market Michael Palya area is set up in a
building donated by a local benefactor. Here, 800
children from the most financially challenged
families are taken through class I to VII. HP has
donated PCs to the School. Akshay Patra
supported by the Deshpande Foundation provides
a free mid-day meal. A US based benefactor has
committed USD 250,000 to the School, through UWB.
