    and families to become healthy and contributing
    members of their communities.
  • Utilizing methods that have been proven to work

Environmental Strategies?
  • Changing or influencing community conditions,
    standards, insitutions, structures, systems and
    policies.
  • i.e. increasing fines for underage drinking,
    moving tobacco products behind the counter,
    increasing access to community services.

Examples of Environmental Strategies for youth
  • School substance use policy
  • School group or athletic club policy
  • City tobacco use policy
  • Help a coalition gather facts for a potential
    change

change
  • Locate and read current laws/policies
  • Understand the process for changing policy
  • Learn how the laws/policies are enforced
  • Learn the political process (elections)

  • Compile a report that supports the change

    dont use drugs/alcohol and are good role models.
  • Ask those in your group for support on a
    particular task or action.
  • Post pictures and articles or even your PSA.

  • Then email it out, or post it to your facebook.
  • Send it to elected officials, school board
    members, school administration, and all students.

  • Ask a broadcast journalism class or graphic arts
    club or yearbook staff to help you create really
    good looking and professional materials
  • Contact your local RPC for possible grants or
    community service opportunities.
