identification and management of risk from
asbestos containing materials (ACMs) - A fully automated risk assessment and priority
assessment system through the use of simple pull
down menus - A solution which is fully compliant with the
Health and Safety Executives publication MDHS 100
and HSG 227 - An automatically generated asbestos register from
the information contained within the asbestos
data sheets - An optional Pocket PC based solution for carrying
out Asbestos Surveys and for collating electronic
data collected in the field in real time - Generates automatic reminders for asbestos data
sheets which have passed (or are nearing) their
Review Date
6What are the benefits?
- The benefits of using AsbestaPLAN Online include
- A simple easy to use and practical, graphical
interface which requires no specific IT
knowledge. In fact you can be up and running
within minutes! - All data added to the database is entered on a
form, which is displayed on a single screen,
meaning that all your data and information for a
specific sample/location is always close to hand - The asbestos register is automatically generated
from the information contained within the data
sheets - The collection and processing of survey data
using the optional AsbestaPLAN Plus package has
been shown to reduce the time taken to
complete Asbestos Surveys and prepare Survey Repor
ts by up to 50, meaning that the system pays for
itself in next to no time! - AsbestaPLAN Online can be used to share and
exchange information from asbestos surveys in
real-time, between people in different
organisations and locations
7What are the benefits? (Cont.)
- Survey information on a Pocket PC can be
simply uploaded into the AsbestaPLAN Online
Database from where it can then be updated and
amended as changes in workplace occur. This
therefore creates a 'Live' updateable asbestos
database/register - The Asbestos Data Sheets can be viewed online or
printed off and used within survey reports and
management plans, or alternatively they can be
issued to contractors carrying out maintenance or
other works - Alternatively external organisations and
contractors can be issued with secure passwords
which will enable them to view and print the
online data, but not amend or delete it (read
only access) - The Asbestos Data Sheets can also be circulated
in electronic format, such as Adobe Acrobat
(.PDF) or Microsoft Document Imaging (.MDI) - (users will need the Adobe Acrobat or MS
Document Imaging software to exchange documents
in this way) - The software can be used to help manage asbestos
within a single property, or alternatively within
multiple properties in multiple locations
8What are the benefits? (Cont.)
- For surveyors, the software not only helps to
improve the efficiency of surveys, but it also
provides a detailed data sheets and asbestos
registers for inclusion within asbestos survey
reports - The database is securely hosted in a location
remote from your premises meaning that the data
will always be secure and maintained by others - Access to the online database can only be
achieved with a registered username and password,
with each user being allocated specific rights
such as Full user Editor Creator or Read Only
9Ensuring Compliance
- Whilst AsbestaPLAN Online will not eliminate the
hazards or dangers associated with ACMs in a
building, it can help duty holders to manage the
dangers and control the risk of exposure to
employees, maintenance workers and others who
may be affected - Furthermore the use of AsbestaPLAN Online can
help to demonstrate how duty holders are
complying with their duties under the Control of
Asbestos Regulations 2006 - With the 21st May 2004 deadline now well behind
us, the HSE expect all organisations to be
proactively managing ACMs within their premises
AsbestaPLAN Online provides the perfect solution
for the management of asbestos
