doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for
instruction in righteousness That the man of God
may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all
good works. - Perfect Complete

- (2 Pet 13) According as his divine power hath
given unto us all things that pertain unto life
and godliness, through the knowledge of him that
hath called us to glory and virtue. - All things pertain unto life and godliness By
the Scriptures we know how to do good and live
godly - (Ps 119105) Thy word is a lamp unto my feet,
and a light unto my path. - By his word we can see the path to righteousness

of Life
- Man needs this Standard of Measurement
- (Jer 1023) O Lord, I know that the way of man
is not in himself it is not in man that walketh
to direct his steps. - We cannot know without the scriptures how to
direct our steps - We need standards to measure time, weights,
lengths Need standards to measure ourselves

- (Deut. 42) Ye shall not add unto the word which
I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought
from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the
Lord your God which I command you. - (Rev 2218-19) For I testify unto every man that
heareth the words of the prophecy of this book,
If any man shall add unto these things, God shall
add unto him the plagues that are written in this
book And if any man shall take away from the
words of this prophecy, God shall take away his
part out of the book of life, and from the things
which are written in this book.

Not Knowing the Scriptures
Erring
Scriptures
We Err Because of Not Knowing the
7The Sadducees Erred not Knowing
- The Sadducees were a politico-religious party,
holding the highest offices in religion and
state. - (Whos Who in the Bible, pg. 375)
- Most Prestigious RELIGIOUS LEADERS not
knowing?! - If they had known the O.T. Scriptures they would
have known a number of passages teaching the
resurrection
8Old Testament Scriptures concerning the
Resurrection
(Dan 122) And many of them that sleep in the
dust shall awake, some to everlasting life, and
some to shame and everlasting contempt.
(Job 1925-26) For I know that my redeemer
liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day
upon the earth and though after my skin worms
destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see
God.
(Ps 1610) For thou wilt not leave my soul in
hell neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to
see corruption.
(Isa 2619) Thy dead men shall live, together
with my dead body shall they arise. Awake and
sing, ye that dwell in dust for thy dew is as
the dew of herbs, and the earth shall cast out
the dead.
9They erred not knowing the power of God
- Must recognize the Power of God.
- If one believes in God, he wouldnt doubt in
Gods ability - (Acts 268) Why should it be thought a thing
incredible with you, that God should raise the
dead? - If you believe in a God that created us and
everything, even the science that governs our
universe, how could you doubt that he could raise
the dead?
10They further erred not knowing that there will be
a different type of life in the resurrected state
- (Matt 2230) For in the resurrection they
neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are
as the angels of God in heaven. - Their source of err was IGNORANCE (not knowing)
- Many against the truth try to add silly doctrines
to the truth in order to discredit it. - Scriptures never taught that man will be just as
he is in this life after the resurrection. - They assumed it would have to be that way
11Many do the same thing to baptism.
- They assume that if Baptism is essential then man
would be saved by works. - NOT SO! Wheres that at in the scriptures?
- They will claim that if we have to be baptized
then we would be doing something to deserve
salvation. - Why?
- Water has no inherent property to clean souls
- There is no inherent goodness in baptism that
would make one DESERVE salvation!
12They Know Not the Power of God!
- Baptism is essential to salvation for the very
fact that God said he wants us to perform the act
in order to the remission of sins. - (Acts 238)
- God has the power to save us any way he wishes
- We know his wishes by his word
- His word tells us to be baptized for the
remission of sins
13They further erred not knowing that there will be
a different type of life in the resurrected state
- (Matt 2230) For in the resurrection they
neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are
as the angels of God in heaven. - Their source of err was IGNORANCE (not knowing)
14Ignorance is the source of error for Many
- (Acts 317) And now brethren, I wot that through
ignorance ye did it, as did also your rulers. - Speaking of the Crucifixion of Christ
- If they wouldve know it they wouldnt have
killed the Son of God - (1 Cor 28) Which none of the princes of this
world knew for had they known it, they would not
have crucified the Lord of Glory. - Ignorance is not Bliss
- Ignorance is dangerous
15Man must know the truth!
- (John 832) And ye shall know the truth, and the
truth shall make you free. - Not known through a feeling
- Known through Faith
- Faith cometh by hearing (Rom 1017)
- Truth is known through what we read
- Difference between Feeling and Faith
- Feeling Mans wisdom
- Faith Gods wisdom
16Scriptures Show us Jesus!
- (John 539) Search the scriptures for in them
ye think ye have eternal life and they are they
which testify of me. - Scriptures testify of Jesus Christ
- Not the heart
17Some others who know the Scriptures also err
- Not for ignorance for other reasons
- Heres some examples
- Some want their own will
- (Matt. 1916-22)
- Some err because of preconceived ideas
- (2 Tim 42-4) They will find some to color the
scriptures for them to suit there needs! - The Jews were unable to understand the Great
Commission - How could the Gospel of God be for the Gentiles
- How could the apostles go through all the world
18It took a miracle to get them to understand that
it also applied to the Gentiles
Cornelius (Acts 1117-18) Forasmuch then as God
gave them the like gift as he did unto us, who
believed on the Lord Jesus Christ what was I,
that I could withstand God? When they heard these
things, they held their peace, and glorified God,
saying, Then hath God also to the Gentiles
granted repentance unto life.
- Peters Vision
- (Acts 1011) And saw heaven opened, and a
certain vessel descending unto him, as it had
been a great sheet knit at the four corners, and
let down to the earth Wherein were all manner of
fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts,
and creeping things, and fowls of the air. And
there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter kill, and
eat. But Peter said, Not so, Lord for I have
never eaten any thing that is common or unclean.
And the voice spake unto him again the second
time, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou
common.
