- Initiated in 1997 by the Alfred P. Sloan
Foundation - Thirty institutions nationwide
- Rice was awarded grant in May 2001
- Grant will end in June 2004
- Three students began program in Fall 2002

Cohort Courses Required for all Tracks
- Management for Science and Engineering
- An introduction to basic business concepts, such
as Organization Behavior, Accounting, Strategic
Management, and Marketing. - Science Policy and Ethics
- An introduction to the policy, politics, ethics
and legal issues that relate to science and
technology. - Masters Seminar
- Guest speakers expose students to careers and
disciplines in each focus area. - Cain Project trains students in various areas of
communication.

- Oral presentation and written reports required
