• Generally available in many libraries and often
  with indexing

• Limited to modern history
• Most popular magazines date only from the 19th
  century when literacy rates climbed
• May be difficult to use
• May not have good indexing
• Many articles will be short and may not provide
  in-depth coverage of a topic
• In the UW Libraries
• Some issues may be in storage, in Special
  Collections or on microfilm
