12Womens Advancement Feeling Excluded
Assumptions are being made about my interest in
a job or international assignments because of my
family situation
Recognition gifts given out are male centric
The only customer or business entertainment
events are golf ..
My opinion is not sought, but the opinion of my
male peers is
I get the sense that there are prior discussions
where decisions are made
Taken as single experiences, these events seem
trivial, yet when experienced collectively and
regularly they become behaviors that alienate
women
There are so few women in management that it
sets an aura that men have the edge, women are on
the outside
Management considers giving women certain jobs
that are a risk or a stretch for males they are
opportunities
I am treated differently in meetings by not
having my hand shaken, apologized to for
swearing, not being addressed in the same
collegial manner as men
I have to shout to be heard over the male voices
or my comments are not acknowledged
I am constantly being looked to to perform
administrative tasks
