Mission
  • Strengthen defense and military education through
    enhanced national and institutional cooperation.
  • (Provided by US SECDEF Cohen during his
    intervention at the 12 June 1998 meeting of the
    EAPC Defense Ministers.)

  • This is accomplished by developing a
    collaborative, activity-based network, which
    links defense practitioners, scholars and experts
    within the EAPC region in order to facilitate the
    sharing of information. In addition to defense
    academies and security studies institutes, an
    important component of this effort is the
    participation of universities and
    non-governmental organizations and institutes.

  • Goals
  • (Provided in the concluding documents of the NATO
    and EAPC Summits on 24 and 25 April 1999.)
  • 1. Foster greater academic and educational
    opportunities with the defense and security
    community.
  • 2. Encourage high standards for professional
    military education.
  • 3. Promote more effective education through
    advanced distributive and distributed learning.
