- Definition of Bullying
- A person is being bullied or victimized when he
or she is exposed, repeatedly and over time, to
negative actions on the part of one or more
persons. (Olweus, 1991). - Whether direct or indirect, bullying contains
several key elements - An imbalance of power
- Repeated actions
- Intentional actions
- Unequal levels of affect
- Victim
- Someone who is exposed, usually repeatedly and
over time, to negative actions on the pat of one
or more bullies (Olweus, 1991 Perry et al, 1990) - Bystander
- Students who are not actively involved in the
bullying dynamic and are not officially
identified as bullies or victims. (They are the
majority of the school population.)
