2Overview
- Shortcuts are quick ways to get to the items you
use often. - You can put a shortcut to any program, document,
or printer on your desktop or in any folder.
3Creating a New Shortcut in My Computer
- This procedure is almost the same as creating a
new short cut from Windows Explorer. - Reminder - Microsoft has two Explorer programs.
Windows Explorer is for File Management.
Internet Explorer is for Internet Browsing.
4FIRST Select My Computer
5Second Open the appropriate file and then right
click.
6Third A New Shortcut Icon Will Appear
7Finally Drag the New Shortcut Icon To the Desktop

- This will place a shortcut to on your desktop.
- You can then open Mis1b.Exam by double-clicking
its shortcut icon. - A shortcut does not change the document's
location. - Deleting a shortcut does not delete the original
file.
9Creating Shortcuts Using Taskbar
10First Select the Taskbar Icon
11Second Select the Add Button begin the procedure
for adding a shortcut.
12Third Select the Browse Button to choose the
program for which you want to create a shortcut
13Fourth Open the Folder with the correct file,
select that file, and click on Open.
14Fifth Click the Next Button
15Sixth Select the Desktop Icon and Select the
Next Button. This will place the Icon on the
Desktop.
16Finally Type in your desired name for the
shortcut, and then click the Finished Button.
