Defining Podcasting

• A method of posting digital files (typically
  audio) to the Internet for users to access
  on-line or to download to a personal audio player
  that plays digital files (i.e. an iPod or any MP3
  player).
• Preparing a radio program to be placed on the
  Internet that students copy to and play on their
  iPods.

Planning a Podcast

• Clarify your purpose
• Educational, Informational, Promotional
• Develop podcast identity (logo, name) to use in
  marketing
• Determine the quality level of the podcast
• Establish your budget

• Record audio file using recording software
• Edit audio file for long pauses, mistakes, sound
  quality, background noise, speech tics, etc.
• Edit in musical pauses, introductions,
  commercials, etc.
• Convert and save audio to an MP3 format
• Publish your podcast by uploading it to your
  website

Promoting a Podcast

• Register your podcast with a podcast distributor
• (i.e. iTunes)
• Register your podcast with several search engines
  
• Create a link on your website
• Promote the podcast in the traditional ways you
  might promote any program
