Becoming a Researcher at QUT

What is the VRES?
  • The Vacation Research Experience Scholarship
(VRES) scheme allows students to undertake a
research project while receiving a monetary
payment for an allocated period of time over the
    summer vacation period.
  • Scholarships are intended for
  • Currently enrolled undergraduate students
    (second, third or fourth year).
  • Final year students

3
Why apply for a VRES?
  • Vacation Research Experience Scholarships provide
students with an opportunity to experience
    research work.

  • The experience provides contact with active
researchers and offers a challenging environment
in which students have an opportunity to test
    their potential for research work.

4
How long?
  • Generally, the research projects commence between
early November and early December and normally
    conclude by mid March.
  • The minimum period is usually 6 weeks and the
    maximum normally between 8-10 weeks.
  • The research experience is normally broken into
two parts to allow for the Christmas closure of
    the University.
