6Information Technology Infrastructure
- ITEE has a wide range of state-of-the-art
computing and specialist research equipment that
is constantly upgraded to keep pace with
technological change. Specialist laboratories are
available for research in robotics, electronics,
computer systems, communications, power systems,
optics, signal processing and microwaves. - The school network provides
- Gigabit backboned network with switched
100BaseTX connectivity to every computer 802.11b
11Mb wireless network covering the bulk of
ITEE buildings - Dual CPU fileserver with 1GB memory, gigabit
networking, approximately 1TB of U160 SCSI RAID5
storage and LTO backup system and - Sun V880 Enterprise Class Unix Servers with
OctalUltraSPARC III CPUs, 16GB of memory, gigabit
networking running Solaris 9.
7Office Space and Administration Facilities
ITEE provides research students with a desk and
office furniture in a shared room. Research
students have 24 hour access to ITEE facilities
and to their office. Current computing
equipment is also provided as well as
administrative facilities including access to
photocopiers, printers, fax machines, scanners
etc.

- Before October 2007
- Discuss and confirm supervision with ITEE staff,
and in consultation with your prospective
advisor, draft a research proposal. - If you are having trouble making contact with
staff, please email rhdoffice_at_itee.uq.edu.au for
assistance. - Apply for scholarships APA UQPRS
- After funding outcomes are announced in December
2007, plan to commence your research degree
before 31 March 2008, and submit - Application for Admission and Enrolment and

10Financial Support School/Research
- ITEE/RG Scholarships
- In 2007, ITEE will offer a number of tax free
scholarships to qualified PhD MPhil students.
These scholarships will be equivalent in value to
an Australian Postgraduate Award (19,616 per
annum in 2007), and will be funded by the school
in conjunction with ITEE staff research grants,
from research centres associated with ITEE, or
from industrial collaborators. - Eligibility
- Your prospective advisor must have access to
funds a component of the scholarship - If you have Honours 1 or expect to receive
Honours 1, first apply for the APA/UQPRS awards - For further information about research projects
funded via the ITEE/RG Scholarship scheme, please
