• Doctors
• Presently 11600 population
• Rapid growth in Medical Colleges (106 in 1981 to
  260 in 2006)
• Nurses
• Presently 12250 population
• Recent surge in nursing colleges (659 in 1998 to
  2302 in 2006)
• Public Health Professionals
• Presently 8 schools
• PHFI creating 6-8 schools over next 5 years

• Health Professional Education (Medical Nursing
  Dental)
• Public Health Component Limited and Undervalued
• Shortage of Doctors, especially Physicians at
  District Sub-District levels
• Personnel Shortage- Pharmacists Transfusion
  Technologists Lab Technicians etc.
• Paramedics- Limited Training Access
• Health Workers- Vertical training programmes,
  Training not standardized, Male MPWs becoming an
  endangered species
• Task-shifting Task-sharing needed
