Environmental Works releases ECATS version 1.2
The latest update of ECATS (Environmental
Compliance And Tracking System) was unveiled in
August, 2003. This marks the latest upgrade to
what is considered to be the nations first web
based system that allows businesses to easily
monitor environmental data. The system is
designed to allow both large and small companies
to track the compliance of tasks related to both
state environmental regulations, and also keep
users posted of important insurance deadlines.
The system was first developed to aid the owners
of both underground and aboveground storage tanks
to easily and very inexpensively keep up with the
mandated inspections, reports, and compliance
regulations. Its proven to be especially
beneficial to those firms engaged in petroleum
marketing such as convenience stores, gasoline
wholesalers, and even manufacturing. is available

The ECATS software has been designed to be very
user friendly, allowing for easy input of data
by the end user. In addition to tracking tank
system data and insurance renewals, ECATS also
tracks release detection data, tank line tests,
cathodic protection data, permits and plan
information, and other critical elements. One
important feature of the system is its
notification process, letting users know via
email of upcoming deadlines as well any
uncompleted tasks. Environmental Works developed
ECATS to aid existing clients, but the interest
in ECATS has grown from all sectors of business,
especially those engaged in the petroleum
industry. While the cost is very little for a
monthly subscription to the service, the
importance in its savings to even a small
company is very significant. It is a firms
first line of defense in preventing potential
governmental fines, loss of insurance coverage,
or even the risk of tank or line failure which
could result in costly cleanup. A free tour of

20 INFLUENTIAL WOMEN IN BUSINESS will be honored
by the Springfield Business Journal at their
second annual event in October. Were pleased
that this years list includes Robin Melton,
owner of Environmental Works and four other
outstanding women employed by SCA (Springfield
Contractors Association) member firms Pam
Armstrong (City Utilities), Paula Glossip
(Citizens National Bank), Ann Salle-Mason
(Commerce Trust Company), and Robin Robeson
(Commerce Bank). Although not technically SCA
members, we also congratulate fellow construction
comapny owner Janell K. Manley (Janell Manley
Homes) and Lisa Nally (Springfield Area Chamber
of Commerce). Your Executive Director, Sheryl
Letterman, was privileged to again serve as one
of the judges for SBJ.

Environmental Works expands operations to Kansas
City
To meet the needs of an ever expanding base of
clients, Environmental Works has announced plans
to expand by opening an office with the Kansas
City metropolitan area. The office is expected
to be in operation within fourth quarter of 2003.
Heading the new Kansas City offices will be Paul
Dial, an Environmental Works Environmental
Scientist. Mr. Dial holds an M.S. Degree in
Chemistry, from Southwest Missouri State
University, graduating in 1996 Magna Cum Laude.
His work with Environmental Works has included
storm water and wastewater regulatory
compliance,preparation of SPCC Plans, training,
and hazardous and non-hazardous waste management.
The expansion to Kansas City is a direct result
of the firms work with (client name here), as
well as demand from other Kansas City firms who
seeking the environmental consult expertise of
EWI. This marks the first regional office
established since Environmental Works was founded
in 19__. The corporate headquarters for the firm
remains in Springfield, Missouri. The phone
