• Vocational provision grew out of guilds, workers
  association, industrial links
• Strong provision of art and agricultural colleges
• 1944 Education Act Role for vocational
  education
• Development of tertiary education combined
  vocational and academic, (particularly in rural
  areas
• 1992 FEFC formed to fund all non
  school/university academic education control
  taken away from local authorities and LTECs
  responsible to fund training
• 2000 Formation of Learning Skills Council, to
  fund all vocational and academic further
  education
